Coveted

This issue of VK Fall 2008 is out-of-print and much desired by the world. Well, part of this statement is true anyway.

About every other year my VK subscription slips, gets away from me and I may miss an issue or two or three... I want and covet every issue of Vogue Knitting and I really did want this issue. I mean, look at those mittens.

I never worried about purchasing the issue because even a year and a half later, it could still be ordered. My LYS had two or three on their shelves. No, I did not need to rush to pick up a copy.
The funniest thing happened. I was spying on some Ravelry forum and part of the discussion were on the Druid mittens and Jared and how no one could find the VK Fall 2008 issue. Huh ? What ? -- I opened up another internet window and began looking for places to order the issue. Vogue Knitting showed Out-Of-Print, I called my LYS and they had sold the last copy the previous week. I went back on the forum and jotted down a few of the suggested LYS's that might still have copies. I called and nada. No more copies.

EBAY !!! I went to Ebay and saw that there were two copies up for bid. One had 11 bidders and the bid was already at $16+ dollars with five days to go. The other copy was at $11.00. I was not sure if I wanted any part in this frenzy and surely didn't want to be impulsive so I closed the Ebay window. Reluctantly.

When I checked back some days later, the first issue up for bid topped out at over $25.00, the second one sold for a bit over $15.00. Fifteen dollars would not have been out of my range, nor twenty. I wondered if I should have bid on the magazine. Too late. A few days later another issue was up for bid and again I closed the window.

Hmmmm, I was a little upset that I hadn't bought the issue over the year and a half but then again, it's only a knitting magazine. Although more expensive, the patterns can be purchased individually on the Vogue Knitting website.

Someone Was Actually Listening To Me...

A Blogless buddy of mine (that wants to remain nameless) took to heart my chatted frustration about not getting the VK Fall 2008. This was her gift to me! My first response was ohMyGoshWhereDidYouFindIt?!!! She has not told me and is enjoying keeping this information from me. I'm so happy to have my own actual issue though so, who cares !

I had forgotten about these mittens in the issue.

and these big yellow ones.

Well, just thought I'd share this gift with you. I started to title this post "Little Things" or "Oh Happy Day" but that may not have grabbed much attention.

Enjoy your week and Happy Martin Luther King Day to all of you.

What a great friend!

WEBS http://www.yarn.com/ has many older issues in their store. Not listed on their web site but customer service would be willing to help, I'm sure.....just for future reference.
