A Post About Almost Nothing...

Not much knitting has been going on with me these days. I've been working a lot with little time to cook or craft. I have hope and faith that in the next few weeks my work life will have quieted down.

I started a simple pair of socks this morning. The yarn is Boston by Wisdom Yarns Marathon Socks. Its sort of a self striping yarn in colors of golds and browns. It's really pretty.

If you follow my blog or have looked at my Rav project page you know that I don't do socks. I love and have used sock yarn but never knit socks. Over a year ago I successfully completed one Jaywalker but lost it and the uncompleted one during my move.

This yarn is soft and has a nice feel while knitting. I tried to picture it in a scarf, gloves or hat but it spoke SOCK to me. So, I started a pair.

Hopefully by my next post or the post after I will have gotten much further.

Atlanta

My daughter and I had to travel (70 miles away) to Atlanta to do business. It's a given that there are specific shops that she and I will definitely go to. We always go to Whole Foods, Sevananda Natural Foods Market, Lenox Square Mall and one or two of our favorite resale shops. We have a lot of fun shopping at these places. We don't think about it, we just go for the shopping.

Things change a bit when it comes time to choose a restaurant. My daughter loves most types of African and Caribbean food. She would eat it ALL of the time if she could. I really like it also but wanted something different this trip. She and I sat in the Whole Foods parking lot trying to figure out what we wanted. With all of our deep thinking and trying to recall which restaurants serve what, you would think Atlanta has a poor selection of restaurants.

Just as I was driving out of the parking lot I noticed a small eatery a few doors from Whole Foods. On their poster board was Falafel, Tabbouleh... I told my daughter "that's where we're eating". She was tired and did not protest.

So, we ended up at the Olive Bistro and loved it ! The food, the quaintness, the food, the service and did I mention the food !!! My daughter had something that looked like falafel in pita bread with a bunch of olives, dried tomatoes and other things. She special ordered it. -- I however ordered the Mousaka. I should add three exclamation points after saying Mousaka (sometimes spelled with two S's) because I haven't had it since living in Michigan and missed it dearly. It's possible that a restaurant in my little town serves it, I just haven't come across it.

This is the actual photo of my Mousaka after a few bites. Ummm Good it was.

So, everything went well as far for the choice of restaurant. My children and I love many types of foods but tend to lean towards the exotic. I guess some would call our choices exotic.
It's always nice to eat out but especially nice to eat out of town.

Sounds like a fun trip! I wish some place around here would serve falafel! Can't wait to see the socks, the yarn looks and sounds heavenly!

It's good to know that you and your daughter were able to find a nice new spot to eat at in the ATL. The socks look nice.

People say yarn doesn't talk but I have heard it tell me what it wants to be...!
