A Fall Shawl

You may already know that I'm living in the northeast part of Georgia. Some of my friends here claim this part of Georgia as being much cooler than the rest. The weather seems to either range from warm to very warm to hot as heck. It's all the same to me. There doesn't seem to be a spring or winter. Just long and very hot summers and short falls that end with a bit of cold. There is a day or two of spring and then it's summer again.

I had no real plan for where my straight stitching versus garter stitch rows went.

When my first spring came of living here in Georgia, I was rearing to do go shopping. I love seasonal shopping. You know, little spring cotton sweater sets, cotton cabled sweaters, nice slacks and skirts. My daughter laughed when she told me that there is NO spring here. Let me correct that statement, there is not a long enough spring for a person to really shop for.

This was a little heartbreaking for me but I've grown use to it.

Lately the weather here has been lovely, very Michigan like. The mornings are so cool that I'm walking out with a sweater over a nice long sleeve shirt. We've had some beautiful wet days also. I love a nice fall rain. The leaves change slower down here than up north. I'm enjoying it just the same.

Above is my Simple Yet Effective Shawl by Laura (Cosmicpluto) that I started and completed some months ago. I just got around to blocking it last week. I love that it's a bit rustic. This is my first fall shawl and I probably won't work on another shawl for a month or more. So i's a good thing this the colors go with many of my clothes. This pattern is an easy peasy and there are two versions of the shawl. This is the free one.

The yarn is Ditto from Universal. The color is Red Rocks. I used size 7 needles.

Such a pretty shawl and am sure it keeps away the chill during those cool Georgia days.

Love the shawl. Is that self-striping? Can't tell for sure.

I love crispy weather. And what a nice shawl to go with the long sleaved sweathers ;-)
