This Weekend...

I love Saturday / weekend knitting.  There's something about coffee and knitting in the early mornings that adds speed to my needles and gives even a long term project freshness.   The plan this past Saturday was to stay in and work on finishing up my last two holiday gifts but as it happened the brake-warning light had come on a few days ago which meant I had to use part of my Saturday and get my brakes done.  This was a two hour wait out of my Saturday.  Yes.  Lot's of fun.  At least I had my car knitting with me to occupy my time.

A few days ago I went to Snellville to the Hallmark Shoppe.  I had not been to one since living in Michigan.   The Shoppe had a great selection of ornaments, cards, everything.  It was wonderful !  I found two pretty designs that will be addressed and dropped off at the post box on Sunday.  I had good luck at the post office today also.  There were only 7 people ahead of me, the line moved quickly and I got cute stamps.

This pattern is the Roller Brim Baby Hat done in Serenity Sock.  These were made in a day as in-between projects to give me a break from the cable scarf.  The hats served their purpose.  I felt refreshed and was be able to go back to the cables with a new attitude.

The beige on top of the Rolled Brim hats is another Bibbity Baby hat.  

Lately I have been viewing the Jilly at the Knitting Broomstick podcast which is entertaining, fast moving and energizing.  I think Jilly began podcasting in 2016 and I had to start watching from the beginning but I've made it to her 2017 episodes. If I'm not knitting I'm binging on shows or I'm knitting and binging... Jilly is a huge Outlander and Harry Potter fan.  So far on every episode she has spoken about either during her filming.   I knew about Outlander but never considered watching.  Thanks to Holly I am now a fan.  A big fan ! The past week I binged up to season 4.

Well I guess I'll get back to my knitting.  Ttyl !

WIP Wednesday

I'm working on a few planned WIPs.  This one was unexpected as it was requested out of the blue.  My physician hinted that he wanted a scarf.  I'm happy he was not looking at me when he dropped the hint because my jaw dropped and in less than 40 seconds I had in mind which 3 colors from my stash I would use, what style, and approximately how much time I would need.  I knew his project would be started immediately because scarves tend to be pretty long.  I was ready. ~ Now the second part of the story behind this WIP is that I found what I thought was the perfect scarf pattern.  It was a paid for pattern that did not work for me.  I've done cables a gazillion times but the authors directions were not very good.  I think she only had one pattern and not too many Ravelers made it.  This happens sometimes.  So I ended up making my own pattern that is similar to hers but mine makes sense.  It's cables for goodness sakes.  They are time consuming not confusing. The photo with what looks like swatches were start and fails from her pattern. The cables you see that's my pattern.

First Socks for 2019

In the beginning I kicked myself for choosing a cabled sock pattern as my first 2019 but 3/4s into the first sock I was fine. The cables felt good and the needles were a rolling !  The pattern is Fa Fa Fa Socks which according to Ravelry were last made August of 2016.  I'm thinking of making a second pair later this year. What can I say.  I love cabled socks.  I used US 2s for these.  It called for U.S 1s but I'm a tight knitter.

What's next ?  I started a cute little cupcake pattern a week ago but put it down to finish my socks.  Hopefully I can complete the cupcake before the week is out.

Next month we'll be seeing another Valentine's Day.  I love how much crafting is done during the holidays.  I will have to go through my stash and pick out reddish and pink yarns to see what I can come up with.  Perhaps a hat, mitts or maybe something whimsical.   We'll see.
