The Race Continues

I have bonded with my holiday gifts.  You see, there was a bit of resentment on my part.  I felt burdened because I have projects which are a cardigan for myself and a sweater for my Son that had to be put aside in order to get the holiday gifts done.  I am over that bit of selfishness though.  I am a happy holiday knitter now.

The past couple of weeks have been Hat-World for me.  Everything is about hats.  Which pattern for the hats, which yarn, does Uncle Ted have a big head ?  Which little cousin likes red and which likes blue ?  Hats, hats, hats.  I love making hats and my family loves receiving them and again I am so very grateful that no one asked for a pair of socks or a long cabled scarf...

This is my third holiday Unoriginal.  I'm making this one for one of my little cousins.  I would love to make her a cowl but there are no promises.  I want to keep the pressure down.

This hat is for one of my little cousins also.  I was on a two day search on Ravelry and at bookstores looking for a unique boys hat.  One that wouldn't take a lot of work.  I wanted fair-isle also.  There were a lot of stripy things which I've deemed as typical boy-stuff so I have drawn up my own pattern.  It will be very simple but will give me the satisfaction of doing fairisle.

The yarn is Charisma by Loops Threads.  I have to make two hats.  One will be mostly reddish with blue and the other will be mostly blue with red.  My gauge is good and it looks like the measurements should be correct.  The measurement should be 15.5 - 16.5 around.  I started with a US 10 needle for the rim but then remembered how much hair my little cousins have so the hat part is done on a US 10.5.  I wanted to use US 11s but I don't think I have dpns in that size.  At least I can't remember having any.

Now this is a very cute little poster but there is a lot of truth in it.

Enjoy Your Week !

I need to take a page out of your book and be one with the holiday gift knitting, too! Can't believe that November is almost halfway over. Looking forward to seeing more of the fair isle hat.

beautiful knits! I try to knit throughout the year to avoid the pressure. Right now I should knit a hat for my dad but I'm procrastinating....which isn't good for me :)

I have found myself making lots of fingerless gloves this year .. which is funny, because I hate making them! But I think that my family will enjoy receiving them!
