Do You See This !!!

The Weather Channel says today and tomorrow we are to have scattered showers. Mr. Willie says tomorrow's rain will be worse than today. I told him in that case, we will barbecue this evening. He suggested that we just cook the food in the oven but I told him I want true charcoal-barbecue taste. Rain or no rain, I want to barbeque !

I'm the Cooking Queen this time around so all things go my way.

Most of the day is going to be crazy busy. I cooked my green beans with smoked turkey wings day before yesterday. I usually cook with smoked turkey drumsticks but they were nowhere in town. The only thing I have to add to them tomorrow are diced potatoes and baby carrots. I will take about a pint of the pot liquor from the green beans and simmer the potatoes and baby carrots in it. Then put the potatoes and carrots in with the beans. Ummm.

I have to make a cake today and my macaroni and cheese. I have a few other things to make but I don't want to think about that right now because it will stress me out.

My friend Anita's mom passed last week. She, her daughter and grandchildren drove from Georgia to her family's home up in New Jersey for the funeral. I received a text from her this morning telling me that they are driving back to Georgia today and hope to see me tomorrow. I wanted to text her back and tell her that she could stay home and didn't have to come if she didn't feel like it. Perhaps she needs to come.

A family friend and her sister are driving from Decatur tomorrow. I really hope it doesn't rain any harder.

I have to go for now. I have to check on my roux.

Somehow I don't see the rain spoiling your party! It will still be great.

Oh my gosh, all your dishes sound soooo good, especially the macaroni and cheese. I hope you have a great holiday and that it doesn't rain too much or at all. Enjoy your Memorial day!
