I'm speaking of the color salmon in Noro yarn. Have you ever been knitting along on a really colorful and yummy Noro sock yarn and BAM ! Suddenly there is a splash of yucky salmon, putrid pink or snotty green ! What did you do ? Were the colors just fine with you ? Did you stress a bit about how they were going to mess up your beautiful socks or did you... Dare I say it ?
Did You Cut The Yuckies Out ?
Here is a bit of yucky salmon next to actual uncooked salmon. Had I poached the salmon even for 2 minutes, it would have been the color of the Noro Sock salmon. In fact, it was that color but I ate my salmon before I had a chance to take a picture. You get my point though.
Where is all of this going you ask ? Well, I started the Gathered Scarf pattern this morning and spent a good deal of time cutting out the colors that I reeeeeeally don't like. This particular 'Sock' is heavy with citrus colors. Fortunately there is dark green and raspberry to mix it up a bit.
Now that the salmons, snot greens and pinks taken out, I'm a happier knitter.
This is what my Gathered looks like so far. It will make a nice holiday gift.
Pardon my use of the word snotty. This is usually a half way decent blog.

Nah, I take Noro as is. And I've come across plenty of colors that I'd leave on the shelf. I chalk it up to "personality."
I'm like Del. I find that pick up my speed during the bleh parts just to get them over with quicker.
I kinda like the salmon color, BUT it really doesn't seem to go with the other colors in the skein.
It is a decent blog. Your description was perfect. I'd have probably left it as it was rather than have to weave in all those ends. I like the way it looks, though. A good job!
I just love Noro so much I enjoy anything that comes up.
Your Gathered Scarf pattern is beautiful and the colors are great.
Girl you are too funny! I am too lazy I probably would keep it. However, I see why you cut it out that scarf looks gorgeous!!
Part of what makes Noro so attractive is that there's some mud thrown in with all of those gorgeous colours.
I haven't worked with any Noro yet and didn't know that they had surprise colors in there. If the color is too 'out there', I would be like you and cut it out. Also, you do have a decent blog.
It really depends on what I'm making with it. I've mostly done socks and other small projects and I usually leave it in because on the socks I use two colorways and stripe 'em. I will cut if it means the two colorways both come up with too similar color at once so you can't see the stripes
:-) I have done the same thing , but in a another Noro Sock yarn-
I just finished a pair of Noro socks for my brother. I didn't run into any problems with any icky colors. I was amazed that the socks striping pattern matched so closely. If I had been trying to make them match they wouldn't have. I will definitely be using Noro again!!
Of course I'm with you. If I were crocheting a scarf, I would cut out the colors I did not carf for.
I have ever only knitted with a Noro Silk Country a silk alpaca blend which I must say was very nice to knit with. But I'm not too sure what I would have done... it does make me wonder hmmm???
Love, love, love Noro!!! And your scarf is coming along beautifully - your into the process and it sounds fun!!!
I am wondering how it looks now??? with more colors added in, Did it get better??
