I began to be concerned and self conscience about my Ravelry Project Page some months ago. I’d never thought much about my "Project Page" before. I didn’t really care about the type of pictures I had posted. I didn't care whether the pictures were in focus, had good color or were attractive. None of these factors made me no mind at all. I hardly ever noted what type of yarn, color or yardage was used for the projects. Heck, at one point, most of my projects had NO pictures. I just didn’t care.
I was putting in a new project one day last year while my daughter sat next to me. She burst out laughing and was pointing at a particular picture I had. I was showcasing a sweater that was hanging on a lopsided lamp with two other UFO’s. There were unfinished edges and strings hanging everywhere. My daughter asked me if I was going to take another picture. “That looks really tacky.” She told me. I had never thought about the presence of my page. She was right though. It was tacky, out of focus and was bland in color and did my sweater no justice. A person would notice the lopsided lamp my FO's were hanging on before they would ever notice my knitting. At that moment, I vowed to myself that I would make my page look better. I would at least take that picture off of my page.
About three months later I was chatting with a fellow Raveler about. She told me to hold on because she wanted to look at the Debbie Bliss cabled scarf I’d made. I think I went into shock because this particular Raveler/Blogger is very organized. Her project page looks good enough to eat whereas mine, well, not so much. The answer is NO; I had not kept the vow to myself regarding straightening out my page. You may find this hard to believe but I was a bit humiliated and embarrassed just knowing what she saw and was possibly thinking about my page.
At that time, I had not thought about others looking at my page. You see, when it gets down to it, our Project Pages are sort of like our closets or bedroom or homes even. This is my thinking anyway. Of course she was as sweet as pie and told me that she didn’t know what I was talking about. When she and I were done Raveling each other, I immediately began to clean up my page as best as possible. I've been working on it ever sence. Now when I take my photos, I go for a good photo. I want myProject Page to be presentable, you know, as if guests were dropping by.
In the past months, I have completed a few projects. This is not just for the project page. It's for myself also. I’ve retaken many of the photos. There is not much I can do for the projects that have been given away as gifts. I guess some of the bad pictures will just have to stay.
These are new photos of my Irish Hiking Scarf. The previous photo was so bad that I not only deleted it off of the project page but off of my camera too. I like these much better.
Here is a new photo of my completed Raspberry purse. For months I kept the UFO photos on my page. Nice huh?!
I’ve salivated over many Project Pages and I’d like to have a good looking page that a fellow crafter might say; “Wow, Two cables has a nice Project Page”. Now when I look at my page I have more of an ahhhhhhh feeling rather than the feeling of yikes!

I love cables! I'm thinking about a cable design for a scarf I'd like to make. The Irish Hiking scarf has been on my "to do" list. I love the way yours turned out.
And the pie... it looks delicious!
I have never noticed your bad photo ;) Will have to go check out your rav notebook now!
I too have never the bad pics... but trust me mine I am sure are worse than yours........... But I must admit I do envy those pages with perfect shots.
People do poke around your project page. Mine can be messy too, but it's tidier than my desk!
Very nice - I'm working on an Irish Hiking scarf too. Now why didn't I think of using more than one color? Great choice! :)
Your Irish Hiking pictures are great. I do like those colors. The purse is very, very cute !!!
Usted ha pensado a través de este y es muy sabio.
I enjoyed your blog and plan to visit again...Ginny
