Again I Am Gifted

I just wanted to show off a few of the gifts I've received from some of my knitting/blog buddies.

Here are skeins of Icelandic, Lopi and Brown Sheep wool from Amybel. Amanda and I had communicated and I knew the package was coming but I had no idea she was sending so much wool. I was almost jumping up and down when I opened the box. I love it, love it, love it !!! I don't know what I have planned but it will be something cute. I may do some type of accessory. We'll see.

By the way, Amybel/Amanda is the wonderful creator of the Braded Cable Handle Tote (Rav Link). One hundred and forty six people have made this tote (so far). The tote is a free pattern and I really am going to make it one day. That is, after I get over my fear of felting. I will share that tale with you another day. So again, thanks so much Amybel !!!

This is a Fiddlesticks packet of the Peacock Feather Shawl Gale had sent to my home. I am so impressed at the professionalism of how the pattern is put together. There were 12 pages listing Fiddlesticks products alone and the front page with the photo of the shawl. All pages were printed in color, even the sales receipt/shipping page. The pattern itself is double sided and on legal size paper. All of this is packed neatly in a plastic holder which is binder ready. Wow.

It's an amazingly beautiful pattern and Gale tells me; "It really isn't a difficult pattern Carolyn" or something like that. If I were going to label people shawl-wise, I would label Gale as a professionally-high-leveled-lace-knitting-shawl person. I'm just saying. So, when she tells me this I kind of laugh but on the other hand perhaps it's true. Perhaps I can make this shawl. By the way, Gale is working on her second Peacock. I will try this year to make this shawl. So, Thank you Gale for the vote of confidence !

My next and last gift is from my blogless buddy Consuelo. This is half a skein/870 yards of the much coveted Wollmeise Lace-Garn. She lives in the same town as I so this was handed to me in a pretty little bag over lunch during the holidays. -- When I pulled it out I began to laugh hysterically (I really did). I was so happy. She began laughing at me because I was laughing so hard with a few tears in my eyes. I'm sure the other patrons thought we were two kooky chicks.

I thought at first the color was Spice Market but Consuelo says it is Rhabarber. She bought it from another Raveler and it had no tag. The true color will show when I knit it up. I have been adding Wollmeise to my stash lately. This is only my second piece of the Lace-Garn. I would like to knit more shawls starting this year and I am loving anything that is Wollmeise. The colors are so vibrant, so beautiful. I didn't understand a few years ago why when looking at stash pages a Raveler would have maybe 15 or more Wollmeise skeins. Since I received my first skein, I truly understand now.

This Rhabarber will make a really nice something come fall, that is if I can hold back from working on it before then.

Present Knitting

I have completed my Baktus. I have to block it and it's ready to be shipped off to my Aunt Alma in Detroit. Hopefully I will post photos soon.
