First FO of 2008 !!!

This little sweater may just define my 2008'
Knit year for me !!!

I set a goal to finish this sweater before the end of January and succeeded. So far, so good !!!

I didn't really use a pattern for this one. I took measurements from another sweater and commenced to knitting and used a bit of information from this Custom Fit Raglan Sweater site. Even with these two sources. I miscalculated the yardage and had to shorten the waist and redo one sleeve to make quarter-length sleeves instead of full length. It all worked out for me in the end. I love the look of bracelets/bangles with quarter-length sleeves.

I've no idea who the maker of this yarn is because it came from that stash I bought last July. It is mohair though and I must admit, I love, love, love the color.

What a Great Holiday !

I’ve been traveling down to Georgia from Michigan since I was a child. My dad is from Georgia, my mom is from Tennessee. 2007 was the first time in my life I’d ever spent a Christmas holiday with my Georgia relatives. We had good times, good laughs and rich food.

Here is a picture of my favorite Aunt Velma (she is always the hostess with the mostest). She is the matriarch on my dad’s side of the family and still a diva. She does and has always stood by me through thick and thin. I love this woman. Incidently, she loves the scarf I made her and has put in a request for a black scarf.

Above, she is with her man Sam. He is soft spoken, personable and sweet.

This is my daughter Fatima. It's the first holiday she has spent with our Georgia relatives.

Here is my little cousin Ron Sailor Jr. and wife Tangie of almost 1.5 years. Another sweet and cute couple. She is 6 months pregnant in this picture and Ron Sailor III is due to make his appearance some time in March !!!

This is Ron's mom, Velma's daughter and my first cousin Sharion. Since we were little she has always been a person of great calm and strength. Another supporter of me.

There were kiddies all through the house and guests dropping in all throughout the day, it was a great time.

Oh That 2007', It Was a Very Square Year...

Over the past few weeks I've read the posts of Lolly, Shameka, Kessa, Peacock Chic, and Knit Lit and other blogs regarding their FO's, learned techniques/stitches and more for knit year 2007. I am impressed and in awe at all of the accomplishments being done by fellow knitters. I have vowed to make 2008 a more knit-industrious year for myself. I will gently push, push, push to knit more. Enough with all of the square knitting of 2007. I plan to get back into more of the tedious projects that I use to take on years ago. I will however, sneak in the occasional square/rectangle, you know, a scarf, a wrap and my beloved ponchos.

I knitted a gaggle of scarves, a few wraps, one cabled poncho and my son's cabled sweater (pictures I have yet to pick up. Next week, I promise).

In regards to what I've been working on;

I have just a little more seaming to do on my peach mohair sweater (This is my first FO 2008'). I will be posting those pictures along with my holiday pictures (yeah, I know, I'm late, very late), next week.

So this has been my synopsis for Carolyn's 2007 Year of Knitting. Now everyone, watch me work !!!

Again I missed this KAL...

I waited and waited for this KAL and yes, I missed it again.

Perhaps I'll make the next round.
