This February-Knitting Month was Brought to You by...

This Don Francisco's brand is a new one to me. I liked the packaging, the wording, so, I decided to try the Mayan blend. I would say their Mayan is a medium roast and in a moment of being out of beans, I would definately purchase it again. It's not bitter at all. Really good !!!
They have a really nice site too. http://www.don-francisco.com/

Special Gifts...

As I mentioned before, the 2007 holidays were very special for me, spending them with my Georgia relatives for the first time and all. Another reason this holiday was special is because it was the first holiday season my honey and I have spent together. We were introduced in Atlanta in March 2007' and have been together since. I would post a picture of him but he hates pictures of himself worse than I. Take my word for it, he's a cutie.

For the holiday, one of the gifts I received from him is a vintage pair of Coach shoes (circa 2003-04). They haven't a scuff on them, have never been worn. The only thing I know is that they were purchased at some upscale resale in Buckhead. I suspect his bestfriends wife helped him. They are a size 10 and fit perfectly. What can I say, these baby's are sweeeeeeeet ! I love them !!!

My Aunt Velma in Atlanta is a retired lady with an active social life. She visits with a group of retirees four times a week to socialize and participate in various activities. Now there are many activities to choose from, she even considered knitting. She decided on painting with oil instead.

This is a picture she painted in the early part of 2007.

She actually has a stack of them behind a chair in the dining room. Every time I visited, I would joke with her that this was a painting of me in the olden days. This would crack her up.

To my surprise, this was her gift to me. A very, very special gift. Brings tears to my eyes when I think of it.

Corny but true.

Second FO of 2008 !!!

A couple of days ago while knitting and watching 'Jackie Brown', my daughter laid a skein of Bernat Camouflage in my lap and said "I need a hat but I don't want it to look too hatty please" !!!

I considered whipping up a Clamorimetry for her. With whip being the operative word though, I decided instead on the DROPS Headband 86-10.

This headband is as simple as knitting up a scarf. I am pleased with the way it came out and daughter is happy too, especially since she machine washes and dries many of her things.

Some time this year she and I will be sitting down so I can teach her how to knit. This is a perfect project for introduction of increasing and decreasing.

Bernat Camouflage is a 100% acrylic. This is not a yarn that I would buy and knit up for myself. Since this headband knits up so quickly, I didn't suffer too much.I have enough yarn left over to couple with another yarn to make a scarf for my son up in Michigan.
I look forward to knitting this up with something wool and chunky.
